For the past month, I’ve been working on a project that is near and dear to my heart. I’ve written here before about my weight (most recently in my post about doctors and fat-shaming). I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. For years, I hated my body for not looking like everyone else’s. I hated my body for not losing weight no matter what I did. And I hated myself for caring so much about my appearance.

But the past few years have changed me. And now, I really feel like a new woman. Do I love every picture that is taken of me? Absolutely not. But I’m not afraid to stand in front of a camera and act like a model. I’m beautiful. And anybody who looks at me and thinks otherwise… well, that’s their problem. It took me years, but now I can see the beauty when I look in the mirror. And I want other women to find the beauty that resides there too.

The Story

My mom and I have been sharing a lot of articles back and forth about body image, how to be healthy at any weight, and fat fashion for awhile now. And as we talked about these things, we realized we had a lot of opinions, knowledge, and information that we wanted to add to the conversation.

A little more than a month ago, we started brainstorming names and building our own body-positive community focused on educating, entertaining, and empowering full-figured women.

Introducing Fatfully

Fatfully is a plus size blog. Our current article categories are: Inspiration, Society, Health, Parenting, Love+Sex, and Fashion. As we were brainstorming topics to write about, we came up with over 100 article ideas! We are so excited to share what we know (and what we learn) in a body-positive atmosphere.

One of the coolest things about the website is that we really hope to share more than just our own voices. We hope that as women become comfortable on our site, they will feel compelled to submit their own stories and articles that we will post to the site. We’d love it if you would submit an article or story!

Join the Movement

It will mean so much to me if you check out Fatfully. If you see a post that inspires you, leave a comment or share it with your friends. We are just getting started so any promotion helps.

And don’t forget to live fatfully. Embrace your curves, no matter how big or in the “wrong” places they may be.
