We love saving money, and now that the wedding is over, I have been thrilled that we’ve been saving money everywhere on everything! I guess it’s really just a state of mind.

Our most recent outing was a big win. My birthday is December 24th, and I got a coupon in my email from Chevy’s El Compadre Club for a free entree under $12 to celebrate. So we headed out to Chevy’s with coupon in hand.

Turns out they were also having happy hour Monday-Friday all day. Since it was a Tuesday, he scored some yummy flautas (which were as awesome as my meal) for $5 since they were technically an appetizer. My meal (choose three combo with a taco, enchilada, and tamale) was free. My sombrero and ice cream were free since it was my birthday. The chips and salsa were free. And since we’d saved so much money, he decided to splurge and get a strawberry lemonade which was amazing.

Combo Entree      $12     (free with coupon)
Flautas                 $8       ($5 special)
Ice Cream            Free    (Free)
Sombrero            Free    (Free)
Chips & Salsa      Free    (Free)
Drink                   $3       $3

Total damage: $8.47 plus a generous tip for a meal that definitely felt like $30+.

See, it pays to sign up for those stupid email clubs. They send you awesome coupons – especially around your birthday!
