I just finished reading Soul Sessions by Carson Gage, and it was a delightful read. Carson Gage has been interested in the mysteries of life and death since the age of seven, when he survived being run over by a speeding car. This experience led him on a journey of discovery for answers to some of life’s biggest questions.
I ordered the book about a month ago, but I finally got around to reading it this Saturday. I was feeling sick to my stomach because of the new medicine I’m taking, and my hubby was at work. I spent hours curled up in bed flipping pages, and finished the entire book in four hours! If you’re a total book nerd like me, you know that reading a good book is the best cure for any sickness.
Soul Sessions is about Nick, a successful businessman who suffers from crippling depression. He ends up going to a therapist who helps him explore his past lives to find out what is holding him back in this life. During his discovery, he finds a familiar woman appearing in each past life. He is consumed by an overwhelming desire to find her in this life, and basically that’s all I’m going to tell you. You’ll just have to read it yourself to find out what happens.
Now, I don’t believe in reincarnation, but I thought this book was a fun read anyway. I will say that it is a little technical at times and went into great detail about the past-life regression techniques that the therapist used. It occasionally distracted me since I wanted to rush through the therapy and get to the action! But then again, I’m a pretty impatient reader… so yeah.
With that said, a lot of the principles explored in this book align with my beliefs. I have always believed that we have multiple “soul mates,” and that our choices determine our destiny. I like that the book talked about what happens when we are afraid of the connection that we feel with other people. You’ll have to read the book to see how this plays out, but I finished reading with a renewed sense of connection to the people around me.
I absolutely believe that things happen for a reason, and that there is a plan for our lives. I believe that when we choose the wrong path, we are silently guided back to the proper path. This book definitely inspired me to listen to my heart and recognize the coincidences in my life as signs of where I should go. I think in today’s society, it’s easy to get caught up in living a logical life where we check off all of our to-do items each day. The problem is that living too logically robs our hearts and souls of the experiences they crave. How can we grow if we do the same thing every day all day long? We can’t let fear hold us back from achieving our dreams, even when our dreams seem so far away.
If you are looking for a book that explores the infinity of love and the importance of coincidences, you should definitely check this book out.
